President
Donald Trump
will hold the first ‘rally’ of his second term on the eve of his first 100 days in office in a
Michigan
swing district.
The Detroit News initially reported this information.
The journey, scheduled for Tuesday following the president’s quick visit to Rome this weekend for an appearance, will take place.
Pope Francis
‘ funeral.
White House
press secretary
Karoline Leavitt
posted to X about the trip Wednesday night.
President Trump looks forward to returning to the wonderful state of Michigan next Tuesday, where he will hold a rally in Macomb County to mark his FIRST 100 DAYS in office! Leavitt stated.
Michigan is one of the three ‘blue wall’ states Trump turned red during his shock 2016 victory over Democratic nominee
Hillary Clinton
.
President
Joe Biden
obtained them back in 2020 – together with the usual GOP-held states of Georgia and
Arizona
.
In 2024, Trump managed to regain control of all those states, switch Nevada to his column, and keep North Carolina, thereby securing victories in all seven toss-up states against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump last traveled to Michigan for a final campaign rally in Grand Rapids, after also holding court in North Carolina and Pennsylvania on the Monday before Election Day.
Back then, he felt a sense of nostalgia knowing this would be his final major political gathering as a presidential nominee for the United States.
‘It has truly been an amazing adventure. There’s a tinge of sadness actually. This is the final show here,’ he addressed the audience in Michigan.
He also concluded his last rallies of both 2016 and 2020 in Grand Rapids.
Macomb County holds particular importance as although voters supported President Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012, they later switched their allegiance to Donald Trump in 2016 and have continued to back him since then.
The county extends towards the northeast from Detroit, passing through suburban regions and reaching into rural territories, alongside a segment of Lake St. Clair.
Since taking office in January, Trump has avoided the type of short trips that Biden frequently undertook.
Initially, he traveled to both North Carolina and California to assess the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene and the wildfires, respectively.

Most of his travel since then has been to Mar-a-Lago on weekends.
He’s also attended a handful of sporting events including the Super Bowl and the Daytona 500.
Trump was originally supposed to make his first foreign trip one to the Middle East – as Saudi Arabia was the first country he visited as president in 2017 – but the Pope’s death on Monday changed things.
The White House did announce the dates this week of the Middle Eastern swing. Trump will travel to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates from May 13 to 16.
Despite not being a candidate, there have been hints that Trump wasn’t going to give up his beloved rallies.
In a recent interview, Secret Service Director Sean Curran told Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara
for her show on Fox News
that Secret Service personnel were receiving instruction on managing the president’s participation in big public gatherings, acknowledging that this was “an area where our organization lacked experience.”
“We are preparing our agents and officers for these major events that have recently become more common,” Curran stated.
Of course, Trump narrowly escaped assassination during an open-air gathering in Butler, Pennsylvania, which took place in July. Despite this incident, he went on to restart his extensive campaign rallies before election day.
