has shared an additional explanation for why she decided to avoid meeting with President
Donald Trump
Her inauguration takes place as she dismisses speculations about marriage troubles.
Barack notably went to Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Donald Trump’s inauguration, events that occurred only weeks apart in January, by himself.
She previously mentioned it was a decision for her own well-being, but she has since provided more insight into this choice.
It began because I didn’t have anything suitable to wear,” Michelle stated during her recent podcast episode titled “IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson.
“I mean, because I am always ready for any funeral or event,” Obama said.
‘I stroll about wearing the perfect outfit, and I pack extra clothing just in case anything unexpected happens.’
‘So I was like, if I’m not going to do this thing, I got to tell my team, I don’t even want to have a dress ready, right? Because it’s so easy to just say, let me do the right thing.’
Michelle mentioned that she was shocked to see how drastically the choice she made for herself sparked extensive speculations regarding her 30-year-long marriage.
“The mockery and backlash I faced for choosing not to attend the inauguration, or for making decisions at the start of this year that aligned with my preferences, were quite significant,” she stated.
