A man from Australia received a 21-week prison sentence for igniting a curtain blind and yelling at immigration officials at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
Hasan Korkmaz, aged 34, admitted guilt to several charges related to harassment and assault of public officials during a hearing on Monday at the courthouse.

According to the indictment, he arrived in Singapore on Dec 11, 2024.
The man became agitated and verbally abusive toward officers after being denied a cigarette.
He took off the curtain blinds and used a flame to ignite them.

The officers from the Airport Police Division succeeded in putting out the fire.
The man also sprayed a fire extinguisher at the officers before being subdued and arrested.
